In a previous article entitled “Are You Investing In The Right Kingdom?”, we looked at some differences between HIS Kingdom and this kingdom. The two kingdoms operate on two different philosophies as well. HIS is based on TRUTH. This one seems to be based on lies. To prove this simple premise, I encourage you to read this article and take the challenge at the end. You will be amazed if you do!
Are ALL Men And (by implication) Women Liars?
David says in Psalm 116:11 “I said in my haste, “All men are liars.” Does that make it so? Paul concurs in Romans 3:4a “Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar…” So, do we have the required witnesses in the Scriptures in order to establish this concept? It appears so…
Who Started This Thing?
John 8:44 (JESUS to those Pharisees that would not receive HIM) “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.”
What IS a lie?
Proverbs 30:6 “Do not add to HIS words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.” Actually, adding to and/or subtracting from truth to any degree is a lie.
The Biblical Perspectives
Proverbs 17:4 “An evildoer gives heed to false lips; A liar listens eagerly to a spiteful tongue.” To receive and/or pass on falsehoods is the same as lying.
1 John 1:10 “If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” To convince oneself that he/she is not sinning, when HIS Word clearly identifies the thought, action, attitude, etc. as sin is a lie.
1 John 2:4 “He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” For folks to say that they have a real relationship with YHWH through HIS Son, The WORD, and yet reject HIS WORD (consisting of HIS Commandments), is a lie.
1 John 4:20 “If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” This one is pretty obvious, isn’t it?
The Conclusion
From just these few scriptures we can see that we have the tendency to lie, that we live in the realm of “the father of lies” and must be wise so as to not add to nor subtract from truth in any way, to not passively allow others to infect us with their lies, else taking their lies as our own! If we allow that to happen, then we can convince ourselves that we are ok (in spite of our lying), believing that we have not sinned and have no need to confess and repent! Once we are immersed in lying then HIS Commandments take on more a theoretical application, rather than a personal application in our lives. And we then can resolve to live in the delusion (lie) that says that we can love GOD, but deal with people deceitfully! Wow! What a lying spiral downward, huh?
The Challenge
So, here is the challenge; Try getting through ONE DAY without lying! Try to make it through ONE day without allowing lying thoughts to dictate you, without personally initiating any lies, and/or without passively receiving or passing on any lies! Sound easy? Try it and find out for yourself! I’ll be waiting to hear your comments after you have tried it! :>)
