A few years ago as I was reading Psalm 133 I began to see something that I hadn’t seen before. Recent events have caused me to revisit that Psalm as well as a few other Scriptures…
Is there a paradox that exists between “The Oil of life from ABOVE” & The Oil of death BELOW…”???
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
verse 1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!
The oil from ABOVE is good…pleasant.
The oil from BELOW is crude and toxic…
The oil from ABOVE brings unity…
The oil from BELOW brings division and war…
verse 2 It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.
The oil from ABOVE runs down from ABOVE and anoints the priesthood for worship of THE Creator!
The oil from BELOW is pumped upwards and promotes worship of the creation…
verse 3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing—
Life forevermore.
The oil from ABOVE refreshes as the dew…
The oil from BELOW results in rescue and cleanup…
The oil from ABOVE consecrates…
The oil from BELOW contaminates…
The oil from ABOVE signifies life…forevermore!
The oil from BELOW signifies death and decay…
I recently read where science believes that crude oil is produced from once living organisms under extreme pressure over time!
It seems that both camps; Evolutionists and Creationists can agree that crude oil is produced from once living creatures and plants being subjected to extreme pressure over time. The evolutionist camp believes that the creatures were probably dinosaurs from millions (or even billions) of years ago, and the creationist camp concurs regarding the source (creatures & plants), but differs on the time frame saying that it all took place during the Flood in Genesis 7-8, just a little over 4000 years ago…
Now, CONSIDER THIS!
If crude oil truly is produced from the bodies of animals that once contained blood…Then consider Revelation 16:3…
“Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man; and every living creature in the sea died.”
Notice that the word man is in italics. That is because it was added. It was not in the original manuscripts. Actually, the verse should literally read “Then the second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood as of a corpse; and every living creature in the sea died.”
The event that caused me to reflect on all of this is what is taking place right now in the Gulf. With 3.5 MILLION gallons of crude oil (“blood?”) being pumped into the ocean, producing an oil slick that is HUNDREDS of square miles in size, my mind zoomed to what the Bible says about the Last Days and the destruction of the waters on the earth. Is there anything prophetic regarding this current catastrophe?
Honestly, there is a part of me that hopes that it is just another blunder of man-kind and will be able to be cleaned up soon! But there also is a stirring within me saying; “Even so, come MESSIAH YESHUA!”
You know, it WILL HAPPEN in someone’s lifetime! Are we so calloused as to think that it IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT IT COULD HAPPEN IN OURS???

Right on in the Ps. 133 oil correlations.
Man is very reliant on petroleum oil products, from the key board I’m typing on to the gas in my truck, its uses are enormous. If I sit down and think about it I’m not sure there is anything good it brings to the table. There is way too much money involved….save Messiah’s return it won’t go away anytime soon.
I’ve wondered about Rev. 16:3 and the current oil spill in the gulf as well. It is interesting that you linked the possible blood of a corpse actually being turned into oil, hadn’t thought about that. I thought maybe it was in reference to color.
Until Messiah’s return may YHWH prepare us for what lies ahead.
