Can we find out what the “doctrine of Balaam” was by examining Balaam in the Scriptures? Lets have a looksee!

  • We find from Numbers 22-23 that he was a prophet “for profit” (i.e. he could be bought with money.)
  • It appears that Balaam liked the high places and to be known as a prophet.
  • We find that he was prone to going the wrong way.
  • We find that it took YAH causing a donkey to speak to Balaam’s stubbornness in order to get his attention!
  • From Numbers 24 we find that Balaam was not opposed to using sorcery in order to produce for his clients.
  • From Numbers 31 we find that Balaam had counseled heathen women to influence Israel into disobeying YHWH.
  • In Joshua 13 Balaam is referred to as a “soothsayer” and is killed by the children of Israel with the sword.
  • In 2 Peter 2:15-16, Peter says that Balaam “loved the wages of unrighteousness” and was insane!
  • And in Jude 1:11 we are told that Balaam’s greed classified him alongside of the murderer Cain (Genesis 4), as well as the rebellion of Korah (Numbers 16).

So, from what we have found concerning Balaam we could summarize the doctrine of Balaam by saying that it is:

  • A teaching that promotes self-centeredness and a love for the spotlight.
  • A doctrine that exemplifies biblical disobedience, stubbornness and greed.
  • A religion whose practices are (for the most part) non-biblical, and/or even anti-biblical at times.
  • A religious expression that allows for idolatry and sexual immorality in it’s midst.

Does this kind of religion remind you of any seen today?

YESHUA said Matthew 7:17-23 “Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

21“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

If you are currently involved in a religion bearing the fruit of “lawlessness”, I pray that you would heed the words of MESSIAH to the church at Pergamos to “repent”…as well as those heard from heaven in Revelation 18:4-8 to “come out”…

“And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. 5For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. 6Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. 7In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ 8Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.” IN YESHUA…
